Entry Requirements for all Travellers

Travellers who are triple-vaccinated with three doses of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen, Bharat Biotech or Novavax do not need to take a pre-departure PCR test. However, passengers who are vaccinated with two doses of the above Covid-19 vaccines, or who are unvaccinated, are required to take a pre-departure PCR test within 72 hours of scheduled flight departure. Please call one of the MOH-approved Covid-19 Test Providers to book an appointment.

Travellers should visit the www.notarise.gov.sg website to obtain and download their vaccination certificate. They should then download the MySOS app and upload their vaccination certificate and negative PCR test (if applicable) at least three days before departure.

Travellers are required to purchase their own travel insurance with Covid-19 coverage for the duration of their trip.

  • Travellers must not travel to any countries / regions outside the blue category 14 days prior to entering Japan
  • Masks are to be worn at all times, except when eating and drinking
  • Travellers who are not feeling well and test positive for Covid-19 will be isolated from the group and must follow instructions of the tour conductor, travel agency or the Bureau of Social Welfare and Public Health.
  • Travellers must pay for their own travel, accommodation and medical expenses incurred for the extension period of stay if tested positive for Covid-19 or if they are a close contact of a Covid-19 patient. Contact your travel insurer to lodge a claim.

Requirements for Travellers on Non-Guided Tours (Free & Easy)

Travellers are allowed to travel free & easy provided the following conditions are met:

  • A Japan travel agency or travel service provider needs to act as the receiving organization
  • The travel agency or travel service provider is required to arrange the flight tickets for the round trip and accommodation for the entirety of the traveller’s stay in Japan
  • Travellers are not allowed to book flight tickets for the round trip or accommodation on their own and have the travel agency or travel service provider be just the receiving organisation
  • The travel agency or travel service provider needs to be contactable by the traveller at all times (example: phone call, email, SMS etc).
  • Customers are encouraged to book their Japan travel packages with Chan Brothers Travel at least two months before departure so as to process the required documentation in time

Upon confirmation of travel packages, Chan Brothers Travel will submit the application for Entrants, Returnees, Follow-up System (ERFS) on customers’ behalf.

Following confirmation of ERFS, customers will have to make their own arrangements for a Japan visa application (including submission and collection appointments) from the Embassy of Japan in Singapore. Appointment slots for visa submission may only be available two months after the time of booking and passports will be held by the Embassy of Japan in Singapore for between seven to ten days for visa processing.

  • One physical passport-size photograph (recently taken)
  • Visa application fee of $38
  • Make a visa submission appointment date via the Appointment Booking System (https://www.sg.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_ja/11_000001_00505.html) to secure a slot
  • Submit the visa application documents (see above)
  • Obtain a visa collection booking date from the visa officer (passports will be held by the Embassy of Japan in Singapore for between seven to ten days for visa processing)

Provided all documents are in order, Chan Brothers Travel may make arrangements for a Japan visa application on behalf of customers. A fee of $250 per person is chargeable and requires at least two months lead time to process.

Rejection of ERFS or visa application will constitute a cancellation of travel package and prevailing cancellation charges will apply as per Chan Brothers Travel Terms & Conditions (Asia Free & Easy+).

Requirements for Travellers on Fully Guided Tours (Package Tours)

Customers are encouraged to book their Japan package tours with Chan Brothers Travel at least two months before the tour departure so as to process the required documentation in time.

Upon confirmation of the tour departure, Chan Brothers Travel will submit the applications for Entrants, Returnees, Follow-up System (ERFS) on customers’ behalf.

Following confirmation of ERFS, Chan Brothers Travel will contact customers for submission of documents for Japan visa applications (including submission and collection appointments) from the Embassy of Japan in Singapore. Passports will be held by the Embassy for between seven to ten days for visa processing.

  • Valid passport with six months validity

  • Copy of NRIC
  • One physical passport-size photograph (recently taken)
  • Visa application fee of $50
